My great grandfather, Thomas was a true renaissance man. He was a carpenter, a farmer, a poet, a songwriter, a church man and a civic debater.  His poetry and song book had been lost to my family for a number of years. I rediscovered his work again after a random search of his name on Google. It had been cataloged and placed in a museum / library in New Zealand near where he lived.  I made contact with the curator, Cindy Kilburn* and she copied the seventy five page work and sent it to me.   This song had no music chart just the words. The original title, “Blessed Are The lost Ones” jumped out at me and the lyrics moved me deeply.  I re-wrote some of the lines and the chorus for sing-ability and so that they would better speak to today’s audience, but most of the lines are in their original form.  Great grandfather Thomas was deeply concerned that none of his family be lost and that all would discover the life and love that Jesus gives.  This song is dedicated to all my cousins and their families as well as to any and all of our lost friends.  May we hear the voice of the great Shepherd, the lover of our lives, Jesus Christ.  May grandfather Thomas’ dream come true…    may none of us be lost.

Blessed are the lost ones
I hear You walking near
You left Your throne & Kingdom
To find the broken here

Blessed are the lost ones
I hear the Shepherd’s voice
Stray ones You are seeking
The blessed ones of Your choice

Chorus
I need You to find me, here
I need You to find me, find me, here
I need You to find me, here
I need You to find me, find me, here

Blessed are the lost ones
Like a ship afloat but tossed
With your blood You bought us
At what an awful cost

Blessed are the lost ones
I recognize my sin
I’m listening for you calling
I’ve heard You’ll take me in

Chorus
Blessed are the lost ones
Can You hear my cry
Desperate for You to find me
Cause I don’t want to die no no no

* Special thanks to Cindy Kilburn who kindly made this song possible by sending me my great grandfather Thomas’ book.
