I have loved the Lord’s Prayer ever since I first learned it as a boy, (some call it the disciple’s prayer, it should actually be called the prayer of brothers or children to the father). It was given by Jesus as a teaching of what prayer should look like. Many people have written songs around this theme but on this issue there will never be too many songs, like there will never be too many prayers. Jesus taught us, that it was the Father’s will that his kingdom be established on earth as in heaven. The kingdom of God is in people’s hearts; people like Abraham, Rahab, David, John the Baptist, the woman at the well, Paul and others who lived in this kingdom though it is now and not yet, people who will live this kingdom life, allowing the Father’s love to be poured out through them to their world; people like you.

Father in heaven you are Holy
The truth of your name sets hearts free
Let Your Kingdom come Your Kingdom come
Give us this day the bread that we need
And your heart Lord so the broken we’ll see
Let Your Kingdom come Your Kingdom come

Let your kingdom come in this place with power
Break upon us now with your word and will
Let your kingdom come in this place with love
Break upon us now
Come and draw us in
Let your kingdom come

Forgive us our sins for they are many
Don’t give us our way it only deceives
Let Your Kingdom come Your Kingdom come
Your kingdom reigns in infinite strength
Your word is truth and we give you thanks
Let Your Kingdom come Your Kingdom come

Chorus

Father in heaven you are Holy
The truth of your name sets hearts free
Let Your Kingdom come Your Kingdom come
Let Your Kingdom come Your Kingdom come
