2005 Shir is Musak SOCAN

I bought an old Methodist hymnbook at a garage sale in Ontario in 1987 for fifty cents. It’s the type of book that has words but no music. What a great find! The words of this song by Isaac Watts, speak of the majesty and the grace of God’s provision for us. Isaac called it "Ps 147", which means he got it from David, I got it from Isaac. I wrote new music and reworked some of the English for today and added the chorus. One day I would like to find and hear Isaac’s tune. For that matter I would also love to hear King David’s tune. If my version works, one day in heaven I’ll ask if we can do a little acoustic trio medley of all three? Dee, my girls, their voice coach Lana and Philip all sing on this song. Every time I sing it, I feel like a child filled with wonder, gazing into a starry sky, sailing on the ocean, or running in the rain. I hope you sense the wonder too.

We praise you Lord
Holy God Infinite One
We love you Lord
Holy Father Maker of all

You formed the stars the heavenly flames
You count their numbers know their names
Your wisdom’s vast it knows no bounds
Deep is the sea our sins our drowned

Chorus

We sing to you we lift you high
You spread the clouds across the sky
There you prepare the fruitful rain
Not one drop will fall in vain

Chorus

You’ve made us lovely in your sight
You view your children with delight
You see our hopes you know our fears
You look and love your image here

Chorus
