Take Me Down

I believe that songs of worship can also be segments of teaching and theology for believers. This is one of the things Jesus meant when he declared that, “the Father is seeking those who will worship in spirit and truth”. This song is a mini journey from Moses through the prophets and then to the cross. I have a constant need to be reminded how expensive the price was, that Jesus paid to buy my freedom. His grace is one hundred percent free and yet it’s the most expensive commodity in the universe.
You wrote your law in a mountain rock
Because I had a heart of stone
The rebel cause is the core in me
I broke the law the law broke me
Walk me through the garden to the criminal cross
I need to rediscover what my freedom cost
How desperate I was lost
Take me down to “it is finished”
Take me back where love began
Take me in to the heart of all You have planned
The prophets came and I threw my stones
The words they spoke were not received
The runner came with words of fire
Even then I did not see
Pre Chorus
Chorus
Bridge
Take me down…Down is the road to freedom
Take me down…Down is the road to heaven
