2005 Shir is Musak SOCAN

When I was in the former Soviet Union teaching at a pastor’s conference, a local church there had been facing some opposition from the government and a few pastors had been jailed for several weeks. I was speaking about that issue with one of the pastors after it was realized that some police had monitored our meetings. I will never forget the steely resolve in his eyes when he said to me "you have got to understand that we were a people in darkness and we have seen a great light, these are the days of the spirit and we are never looking back". This song is dedicated to all pastors around the world in hard situations. Regardless of the warfare, they are walking in freedom, experiencing an open heaven, and seeing the life of the Spirit in their place of service. I wrote this song on the flight back from Moscow and in a taxi cab driving across Berlin.

There was a time we stumbled in darkness
We couldn’t see there was no light
No word to teach no power to guide us
No hope to live for in the dark of night
Then your love came
Now my life’s changed

These are the days of life in the Spirit
These are the days of freedom and love
These are the days of an open heaven
These are the days
These are the days of life
These are the days of life
These are the days of life

Looking back to times that were wasted
Lost days in the span of life
Spinning wheels in a circle of circles
Is there a pathway outa this place
Then your love came
Now my life’s changed

These are the days of life in the Spirit
These are the days of freedom and love
These are the days of an open heaven
These are the days
These are the days of life
These are the days of life
